The moderate political partners of Iran's President Hassan Rouhani are set to sweep a parliamentary election in Tehran. The pro-Rouhani "List of Hope"appears to have won all 30 parliamentary seats in Iranian capital, according to BBC.

Rouhani welcomed the poll result,s saying that the vote gives more credibility to the elected government. "The people showed their power once again and gave more credibility and strength to their elected government," Rouhani said, according to DW.

"The competition is over. It's time to open a new chapter in Iran's economic development based on domestic abilities and international opportunities," the Iranian President said on Saturday, according to VOA News.

The unofficial initial results show moderates are gaining against hard-liner and conservative political rivals across the country. However, moderates are not likely to win a clear majority in parliament. The results are likely to throw a hung parliament.

"The election winners will do their best to protect Iran's dignity, power and independence; resolve the main issues for society and the people; and defeat the global arrogance by their awareness and wisdom," the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said in a statement after the vote, according to Reuters.

Nearly 33 million Iranians cast ballots on Friday to elect representatives for the 290-seat national parliament as well as the 88-seat Assembly of Experts. The final results will be announced on Tuesday.
