The Miami Heat were very active during the trade deadline, but their main goal was to get under the luxury tax. The Heat accomplished that goal by trading Chris Andersen, among others, but now they have empty roster spots they would like to fill. At the moment, the Heat have just 10 healthy bodies, and they could really use a guard, specifically. Jordan Crawford is among the players that Miami is considering adding, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

The Heat are extremely conscious of their tax situation, so they will likely wait until March 8 to sign anyone for the rest of the season. On March 8, signing someone to a minimum contract for the rest of the season would not put them over the luxury tax, but doing so before would. Another option the Heat have if they want to sign someone more immediately would be to add a player on a 10-day contract.

With all of that in mind, the Heat will likely wait two weeks to sign whoever is left available. Crawford is among those players, but so are Jason Thompson, Tony Wroten and Dorell Wright. Wright and Wroten have been linked to Miami earlier this season and may make the most sense for this Heat team, but Crawford is the most intriguing of the listed guys.

Crawford hasn't played in the NBA since the 2013-14 season when he played in 81 games and averaged 11 points per game. Crawford is quite the character and is very confident in his scoring ability, as he once compared himself to Michael Jordan. Crawford can certainly score, as he has averaged 12.2 points per game in his four NBA season,s but his shot selection is questionable at best, and he isn't very efficient.

Crawford was in training camp with the Bulls this season before being cut and heading over to China. Crawford had a game earlier this year where he scored 72 points 52 (!) shot attempts and grabbed 16 rebounds, according to Rotoworld. The Heat need shooters or someone that can handle the ball since Beno Udrih is now done for the season, so Wroten and Wright make more sense, as mentioned before, but it would definitely be fun to have Crawford back in the NBA.
