J.J. Abrams, director of "Star Wars: Episode VII" talked about the upcoming flick, dishing about what it was like to work with screenwriter Lawrence Kasadan on the film's script.

During an interview with Total Film magazine, Abrams raved about Kasdan, who was hired to help the director "rework" Michael Arndt's original script.

"Working with Larry has been one of the most surreal joys of my life," Abrams told the magazine. "We've had a lot of fun working together. He's an incredible guy and an inspiring and spectacular writer."

Abrams also talked about his conflicted thoughts about filming in the U.K. instead of Los Angeles, Calif.

"It's something that I've always intended to do," Abrams explained. "But I'm torn because I have done everything I can to keep the production of my projects in Los Angeles. Yet the opportunity to work with UK crews is something that has always been a dream of mine.

"Of course, that dream existed prior to me being married and having a family, so the reality of making a movie like that for any period of time becomes much more difficult when there are other people that you desperately love and care for involved," the director said.

In other "Star Wars" news, fans can look forward to the appearance of R2-D2 in the upcoming film.  The official production team confirmed on a fan-made version of the robot will be featured in the movie.

"It all started when Kathleen Kennedy toured the R2-D2 Builders area at Celebration Europe this past summer in Germany," said OliverSteeples, on of the "Star Wars" fans who helped create the R2-D2, said in a news release. "She posed for pictures with us, looked at all the droids we'd built and was very complimentary. I mentioned that the R2-D2 Builders in the UK were available if required, as a semi-joke. When I was contacted to work on the film by [executive producer] Jason McGatlin, it was on her recommendation."
