“Overall U.S. teen usage of Facebook remains stable,” said Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.

After Sandberg’s meeting with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, AllThingsD was able to catch her and ask a few questions regarding rumors about the company’s decline in teen usage and plans of pursuing of the popular photo messaging service Snapchat.

During the social networking site’s last earnings call, CFO David Ebersman revealed revealed that there was “a decrease in daily users, specifically among younger teens,” but Sandberg implies that there’s nothing to worry about.

When asked about the decline in the Facebook usage, Sandberg said that it is not the first time this has happened. Facebook has been in the industry for over a decade now and every once in a while something new pops out, something that teens would love to explore. However, with what the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said, “We are trying to be the most useful.”

Not trying to be the newest, doesn’t mean not striving to deliver fresh features to Facebook subscribers, so how true is the rumor saying that the social networking giant aims to buy the photo-sharing app Snapchat? Here’s what Sandbergs got to say: “We are the leader in a growing space. Social sharing, personal sharing, using your mobile device to share is exploding. We and other services are continuing to grow because of it.”

“That’s what matters. If you are the leader in a growing market, other products grow as well. I’d personally rather be in a growing market — where there are more products and more services — than in a shrinking market.

“And I think that we’ve shown that, even as new services come up, we can continue to grow.”

She didn’t say yes or no, but with her saying, “There’s a lot of competition out there, but it’s amid a growing market. That means there’s room for us to grow and others to grow as well,” seems like there is a great possibility.

Though it is still vague, one thing is for sure, Facebook will try all possible ways to stay in the business and earn significant revenue by experimenting on putting ads in our newsfeeds.
