Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's body will lie in repose at the Supreme Court Friday, and his funeral will be held late the following morning, according to sources close to the Scalia family.

Arrangements for the funeral was first reported by NPR, which said that Saturday's ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. in front of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

Keeping up with a tradition that dates back to 1873, Scalia's chair and bench were draped in black to mark his death, while the court placed a black drapery over the courtroom doors.

Scalia, 79, was found dead at the Cibolo Creek Ranch in West Texas Saturday when the owner of the ranch went to check on him after the justice failed to come down for breakfast.

His unexpected death has had myriad results - both expected and unexpected. On one side of the spectrum, a political battle over his replacement is already underway, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vowing to block any of President Barack Obama's nominees until the end of his term. On the other side of the spectrum, many have deemed his death suspicious, especially due to the lack of an autopsy, and believe that something sinister went down at that party.
