There is absolutely no doubt that "Pokemon GO," the augmented reality video game featuring Nintendo's ubiquitous pocket monsters and set for both an iOS and Android release, is one of the year's most highly anticipated titles.

Last year, Niantic teased fans by stating that a beta test for the game would be initiated sometime during the winter of 2015. Unfortunately, the year has already ended and no such beta was ever announced, according to The Bit Bag.

However, it is still technically the winter of 2015; after all, winter usually lasts until sometime in March. Therefore, there is a possibility that the beta test could still happen.

Either that, or it is already happening.

"Pokemon GO" holds one of the most notable spots in this year's Game Developers Conference, and it seems like Niantic is set to make a massive announcement. After all, the company's chief himself, John Hanke, is set to grace the event, reports The Christian Post.

What is most interesting, however, was the wording of the game's GDC schedule, which said that attendees of the conference will learn "how players are interacting and exploring the world with one another through Pokémon GO."

Semantically, the statement suggests that attendees will be seeing gamers who are already interacting with the game. Though the use of the simple present tense might have just been a matter of wording, it does raise the possibility that sometime before the GDC there would be players who are already actively interacting with each other through "Pokemon GO," reports Neurogadget.

Of course, much of what anyone knows about the augmented reality game is pretty much speculation right now. Nevertheless, with GDC just a few weeks away, fans of the iconic pocket monsters franchise will surely be in for a real treat.
