Google has updated its Play Store with a new "Designed for tablets" section as a default view to help users pick out the apps that will work best on a tablet.

Google has finally rolled out one of the most awaited updates for its Play Store. Tablet owners will now be able to find apps optimized for bigger screens with ease as Google has introduced a new "designed for tablets" section in Play Store. If users are browsing for apps and games on Google's digital app storefront with their tablet PCs, the Play Store will switch to "designed for tablets" view by default. This helps users find the apps and games that look best on big screens, instead of having apps that look like the enlarged version of phone apps.

Google has emphasized that the new section is a default view on a tablet and users will still have access to apps that are not optimized for tablets. Such apps will be labeled as "designed for phones."

"Every day thousands of Android developers are taking advantage of the tremendous Android tablet opportunity," the company said in a Google+ blog post. "The flood of new users coupled with the increased screen size means new user experiences, more engagement, and more monetization opportunities for your app."

The update will be rolled out to all users over the next few days. The new section will appear just below the top lists tabs, such as Top Paid, Top Free, and Top Grossing. This shows Google's interest in big screens and its apps. The demand for bigger screens among users is growing and tablets are gaining a stronger ground in an era replacing traditional PCs. Offering best experience on Android tablets can give a boost to Android-based tablet sales, the category which is currently ruled by Apple's wide range of iPads.
