Two of the hottest in Hollywood, Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, are teaming up for a special new project.

The two popular actors will star alongside each other in a musical comedy for Universal Pictures, according to People. Gordon-Levitt and Michael Bacall, who created and wrote "21 Jump Street," came up with the idea for this untitled project. Bacall will also be writing the screenplay.

The project is being described as "an R-rated musical comedy featuring two pilots on a misadventure," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Other details have not yet been released.

"Wicked" and "Grease: Live" producer March Platt has signed on as producer, and Gordon Levitt's company hitRECord Films and Tatum's Free Association will also help produce.

The two are familiar with dancing and singing, as Tatum, 35, has impressively danced his way through "Step Up," "Magic Mike," and his new film "Hail, Caesar!," in which he has a lengthy tap dancing scene. Gordon-Levitt, 34, performed in "(500) Days of Summer" and sang live on his show "Hitrecord on TV!"
