New Zealand maintained its winning streak at its home ground as the Brendon McCullum-led side defeated Australia by a massive margin in the first ODI. Batting first, the Black Caps scored 307 for eight, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. Australia, in reply, was all out at mere 148.

"It was a really good performance. We could have got a few more than what we got. I thought 280 was about par. The surface was not as quick as you might have thought... It slowed up as the game wore on. Once the ball got older it was more difficult to score. We had to utilise that new ball," McCullum said after the huge victory against their Tasmanian rival, according to The Guardian.

New Zealand is hosting Australia for the three-match ODI series and two Test series from Feb. 3 to Feb. 24. Both sides are willing to utilise the ODI series as preparation for the upcoming Twenty20 (T20) World Cup.
