Sony's PlayStation 4 release has caused many gamers frustration due to unforeseen issues with a "blue light of death."

Some of the next-gen consoles customers have purchased did not work out of the box.  Gamers would set up their console and instead of a white light, they see a blue light and are unable to turn on their PS4.

According to Sony, the blue blinking light issue could indicate the following:

1.  TV compatibility
2.  Issues with PS4 power supply
3.  Issues with PS4 hard drive
4.  Issues with other PS4 hardware

This means the console isn't necessarily broken, but it could mean you have not connected your PS4 properly.  In order to help remedy the issue, Sony has released a troubleshooting guide for the blue light.  You can check out the full guide on Sony's PlayStation community website, HERE.

Reports of the "dead" consoles surfaced on Nov. 14, a day before the PS4's original release.  Some gamers who preordered the console were able to receive their PS4 a day early.

Tech site IGN reached out to Sony to about the technical issues reported and the company released the following statement:

"A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems. This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.

"There have been several problems reported, which leads us to believe there isn't a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of systems. The number of affected systems represents less than .4% of shipped units to date, which is within our expectations for a new product introduction."
