The Phoenix Suns are the team of the moment that everyone is talking about after they fired head coach Jeff Hornacek. Hornacek was never going to last much longer since the Suns have lost 19 of their last 21 games but now they have to think about moving forward. Phoenix is expected to name its interim head coach from Hornacek's staff within the next 24 hours but they will also eventually have to think about a long-term solution. It is expected that the Suns will try to pursue Steve Nash to step into the full-time coaching gig, according to Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports.

Nash is in his first full year of retirement but already has two basketball jobs. Nash is already the GM of the Canadian national team and a part-time consultant for the Golden State Warriors but some feel he might want to get a full-time coaching position. Nash was a beloved player in Phoenix during his time there and reportedly has a very close relationship with Suns owner Robert Sarver. There is no doubt that bringing Nash back would reinvigorate the team's fan base but now it is just a matter of getting him to take the job.

Sarver and Nash recently bought controlling interest of a Spanish soccer club together so clearly their relationship is very close and Sarver will reportedly "do whatever it takes to lure Nash back." It is unclear if or when Nash would want to take on a bigger role in the NBA but he can reportedly do whatever he wants. Whether that is coaching or doing something in the front office the Suns would clearly love to have him back in the building.

While Sarver is expected to make a big push for Nash to be the team's next head coach it is not expected to work. Nash is reportedly not ready right now to make the jump into full-time coaching and doesn't want to leave his family to become a head coach right now, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

It would certainly be a tremendous story if Sarver were to somehow get Nash to be the Suns next head coach but that seems unlikely at best. Nash has not been out of the league for very long and already has a lot on his plate so jumping right back in full-time is not in his plans. The two-time MVP with the Suns is a nice pipedream for Phoenix but they will likely have to look elsewhere.
