In a final between the Pacific and Atlantic Divisions, Corey Perry scored the lone goal, leading the Pacific Division underdogs to a 1-0 defensive win to claim the All-Star trophy. It was a fun night, particularly for John Scott, who turned criticism and discouragement into an effective performance. He scored twice during Pacific's semifinal game against Central, including his first goal 47 seconds into the game on his first shift, leading his team to a 9-6 win, according to CBC. Scott, who is not even currently playing in the NHL, is with the AHL's St. John's IceCaps, but this did not stop him from earning the MVP trophy amidst cheers of "M-V-P" from the Nashville fans, according to Deadspin. Along with the trophy, Scott also received a pickup truck, and the entire Pacific team won a shared $1 million prize.

Scott scored his second goal on a wrister, giving his team a 5-3 lead in the semifinal. "Oh, he scored against me, too, so I was happy for him,'' said Predators goalie Pekka Rinne. "I'm sure it was a great experience for him this whole week," according to Sportsnet.

Scott also had a bit of fun with leading goal scorer Patrick Kane, checking him before Kane went on to score at the other end and then dropping the gloves to start a mock fight.

Alongside Scott's performance, Brent Burns, Daniel Sedin and Taylor Hall each had three points in the semifinal with Sedin and Hall scoring twice each. Nashville Predators' James Neal scored twice as well in front of his team's fans.

The other semifinal game between Atlantic and Metropolitan ended 4-3, with P.K. Subban scoring the game-winning goal with 4:38 left in the game. Goalie Ben Bishop had to stop some tough shots by Letang and Malkin in the final minute to hold onto the win.

For John Scott, the AHL player said is happy he played and even happier with his division's win and his award. "I think it's the best possible outcome right?" Scott said, according to CBC. "We had a good weekend. ... We left winning, so it was great."
