The Bishop marriage is kaput and the impending divorce will throw Probationary Agent Ellie Bishop's for a loop on "NCIS."

Ever since Bishop joined the NCIS team two years ago, her marriage to NSA husband Jake Malloy (Jamie Bamber) has suffered. The couple slowly drifted apart, communicating less and less until Bishop cut ties completely when she learned of Jake's affair.

"Divorce throws anyone for a loop, especially in these circumstances," Wickersham told TVGuide.com. "She has it seemingly sewed together in so many ways and is kind of a perfectionist oftentimes. This has really thrown a wrench into her whole thing. ... It'll be hard for her. We'll see a bit of unraveling."

Except for her NCIS team, Bishop will go through that unraveling alone, not ready to jump back into another relationship just yet.

"I think she's going to be really involved in her work for the rest of the season," Wickersham said. "I would imagine that she would take a little bit of time to herself, to really take a moment, think about that relationship. Relationships are hard, and I think that being alone for periods of time is important, to learn things about yourself. I think that's what Bishop will have to do."

Also coming up on "NCIS"...

Jon Cryer will return as Dr. Cyril Taft, the doctor who saved Gibbs' life at the beginning of this season. He will be joined by guest star Laura San Giacomo, who will play Dr. Taft's confidant and co-worker Dr. Grace Confalone, according to Entertainment Weekly. The episode titled "Loose Cannons" will air next month.

The episode synopsis according to EW: Taft continues his unorthodox counseling sessions with Gibbs, and is pulled into a burglary case where weapons and ammunitions were stolen from a Naval base.

"NCIS" returns with new episodes on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
