The Memphis Grizzlies have had a very interesting season to say the least so far. The Grizzlies got off to a pretty bad start which put head coach Dave Joerger firmly on the hot seat after only six games. Joerger's seat is still pretty hot but the talk of him being fired has cooled down considerably as the season has gone on. Joerger's team though, continues to be mediocre as they are 26-20 which is good for fifth in the Western Conference right now and with the trade deadline approaching they have a chance to improve their roster. Despite the need for roster improvement GM Chris Wallace doesn't seem likely to make a deal before the deadline, according to Ronald Tillery of The Memphis Commerical Appeal.

The Grizzlies are safely in a playoff spot right now and it seems like a near lock that they will be one of the eight teams from the West in there but their ceiling isn't very high. The Grizzlies have lost five games by 30-plus points and have struggled mightily with the top teams in the league. One of the glaring holes on the team is their inability to shoot the three but don't expect them to go crazy looking to fill that need.

"There's a fine line between always considering something and being active and aggressive. But you never want to go into any point of the year where you feel like you have to make a deal. That's how you end up making a mistake. I like our team. We've regained our footing after a tough start to the season I'm optimistic and bullish on this team," said Wallace.

To be fair to Wallace he did say that they will be very active on the trade market should something come up that they cannot refuse but he also does not want to hinder the team's future by overreacting to what they need now. Wallace is taking a smart approach here by not thinking that a move needs to be made as it seems fairly clear that the Grizzlies are more than just one piece away from catching the Warriors.

Let's also not forget that the Grizzlies did make a trade earlier this year to acquire Mario Chalmers from the Heat and that has worked out well for them so far. Like most other team's the Grizzlies will likely be active over the next couple of weeks to see if they can get some sort of steal but a season-changing trade is unlikely to happen, much to the dismay of the fans.
