A dog left her house and unknowingly finished Elkmont's Trackless Train Trek Half Marathon in Alabama last weekend. Ludivine's owner, April Hamlin, thought that her 2-year-old bloodhound just went out for a walk, but instead, she finished a 13.1-mile run.

"My first reaction was that I was embarrassed and worried that she had possibly gotten in the way of the other runners," Hamlin said, according to the Week.

"All I did was open the door, and she ran the race on her own accord," she added.

Hamlin thought that it was unbelievable for Ludivine to finish the race because she did not have any form of training.

"She's laid back and friendly," Hamlin added. "so I can't believe she ran the whole half marathon because she's actually really lazy."

Hamlin did not know that her dog ran the course until she received photos of Ludivine sporting the medal after she finished the half marathon for a little over an hour and thirty minutes.

"This is Ludivine - she ran the entire half marathon and finished 7th overall with a time of 1.32.56," the marathon organizers said, according to 9 News.

The race's director, Gretta Armstrong, was happy about the attention the town of Elkmont is getting because of Ludivine.

"Our little town of 500 is getting a kick out of the story going international," Armstrong said, according to Canadian Running.
