For the project, the company followed famous runners and climbers to get the images. They worked with with climber Ueli Steck, skier Candide Thoves and runner Killian Jornet, Gizmodo reports. Jornet allegedly went up the mount and back in under five hours, according to Discovery.

The photos also show the entire Gouter Route, which was captured by guide Korra Pesce who took the Street View Trekker to the summit, The Guardian reports.

Google said it was inspired by the reception to its El Capitan project last year, CBS News reports. However this project was also done to record Mont Blanc's glaciers, which have been receding due to climate change.

Mont Blanc is 15,771 feet located in the Alps, between France and Italy. It has a reputation for being one of the world's deadliest mountains, according to The Atlantic.
