GOP presidential hopeful Marco Rubio appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" Thursday night to discuss his campaign as well as those now infamous heeled boots.

The 44-year-old senator from Florida was mocked by Fallon as soon as he took his seat. The late night host put his feet up on his desk to reveal he was wearing heeled black boots. Rubio previously became a topic of conversation after he was photographed wearing a similar pair of boots, according to ABC News.

"Do you like my boots?" Fallon asked.

"I do," Rubio replied. "Can I keep them? I need a backup pair. I need one in Iowa and one in New Hampshire."

Fallon then showed a picture of Rubio sporting the controversial boots, "These are great boots, by the way," the talk show host told him. When Fallon wondered about the current location of the boots, Rubio joked, "They're in an undisclosed location, but they'll be used at the appropriate time."

The conversation later turned away from the topic of boots to the special place that Rubio holds in his heart for New York City. The candidate asked his wife to marry him on top of the Empire State Building on Valentine's Day in 1997.

Rubio told Fallon that he chose the location because his wife loves the movie "Sleepless in Seattle," but he told her he wanted to go to the top of the Empire State building because he loved the film "King Kong."

"I was afraid she was going to drop the ring off the side ... so I grabbed the ring back, and I gave it back to her when we got to the bottom," Rubio said.
