The Miami Heat have lost six of their last seven games to drop their record to 23-20 and they are really struggling. A big part of their recent struggles has been injuries, specifically to players in the backcourt. With a few of Miami's guards listed as day-to-day with nagging injuries the Heat are reportedly looking to bring in someone from outside the organization to help. One of the players they are showing interest in is former Philadelphia 76ers guard Tony Wroten, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Wroten is currently a free agent after the 76ers cut him towards the end of December. Philadelphia made a trade for Ish Smith and needed to clear a roster spot to make a room for him and they surprisingly chose to move on from Wroten. The 22-year-old guard is coming off a torn ACL and did not play well for the 76ers this season before he was cut but he is still a young, talented player.

The interest from the Heat is being described as a "due diligence check in" which means that a deal likely isn't close to being done but the Heat realize they may need some perimeter help. Starting point guard Goran Dragic has missed the last five games, backup point guard Beno Udrih has missed the last three games and Dwyane Wade has missed two of the last four so the Heat are very banged up.

The Heat currently have a full roster of 15 players so if they were to sign Wroten they would have to clear a spot but that will all depend on the outlook of the other backcourt players. All three guys listed before are considered day-to-day but if the injuries last longer than the Heat hope they might have no choice but to make a move. As of right now the Heat have been going with Tyler Johnson and Josh Richardson playing big minutes in the backcourt and Richardson particularly has struggled.

Wroten's return from the torn ACL was far from good as he was shooting just 34 percent before being cut but it is a surprise that he has not been signed yet. The New York Knicks have been linked to Wroten a lot since he was cut but nothing seems to be doing there. Wroten averaged 16.9 points per game for the 76ers a year ago so he clearly can play in the NBA and he is still young so some team will sign him at some point. Whether the Heat are that team likely depends on the health of their guards moving forward.
