A recent poll reveals that the United States Democratic presidentiable Sen. Bernie Sanders is gaining the lead in New Hampshire. The CNN/WMUR poll for January 2016 revealed that Sanders trumps Democrat rival Hillary Clinton by a huge 27 percent with Sanders at 60 percent while Clinton comes second with 33 percent, according to CNN Politics. This gives Sanders an additional 10 percent since December 2015. Martin O'Malley comes third with one percent.

Jeff Weaver, Sanders' campaign manager, says that the result of the poll reflects how Sanders gained support through the months. "This poll suggests that our campaign has real momentum and that the American people want to go beyond establishment politics and establishment economics," Weaver said, according to the Business Insider. "But it's just a poll, and we take nothing for granted."

Jennifer Palmieri, the communications director for Clinton, said that there are those from the Republican National Committee that are helping Sanders because they see Clinton as a threat during the coming election.

"While Senator Sanders tries to make a case on electability based on meaningless polls, Republicans and their 'super PACs' have made clear the candidate they're actually afraid to face," Palmieri said regarding the results of the polls, according to The New York Times. "Both Sanders and the Republicans know that Hillary is the candidate who can take them on and ensure the White House isn't in Donald Trump or Ted Cruz's hands."

The University of New Hampshire conducted the survey among 420 people on Jan. 13 to 18, and the results could reflect a 4.8 percent plus or minus margin of error, according to the USA Today.
