Penthouse announced that the magazine is set to cease all of its print operations in the near future, putting a definitive stop to five decades of history, according to Fox News. Penthouse is not going anywhere, however, as future issues will be released exclusively in digital format in order to cater to a technologically-inclined demographic.

Penthouse's announcement comes just months after its staunch rival, Playboy, announced the magazine would no longer feature nude photographs of women. With Penthouse's subsequent announcement, the world of gentlemen's magazines are showing more signs of declining, reported Yahoo! Finance.

As part of the transition, the company has ceased operations in its print magazine division in New York. All of the company's operations will now be centralized in its Los Angeles headquarters.

Print magazine subscribers will soon receive instructions about how to convert to digital subscriptions.

Adult magazines have taken a massive blow during the advent of the digital era. With most adult content being made available online for free, subscriptions to gentlemen's magazines have experienced a sharp decline, according to the Wall Street Journal.

During its peak, Penthouse boasted a print circulation that regularly topped five million copies every month. However, recently, the magazine's circulation dropped to only 100,000 copies per month.
