Lifestyle fashion brand Anthropologie is now selling trash cans on its website - but the shabby chic bin, which has a dingy appearance, isn't quite crummy. The store is selling it for $100!

The West Village Corrugated Can, which was noted as "imported" and "handmade" from corrugated tin cans, looks a lot similar to the trash can that houses "Sesame Street" character Oscar the Grouch. But its price is throwing off some shoppers as they aren't impressed by the designer trash can. Of the six product reviews on the site, only two recommended it and one wrote that the price is "outrageously expensive."

Some Twitter users also expressed their disgust for the Anthropologie's product:

The garbage can has actually been marked down from its original cost of $148. But the pricing is expected as Anthropologie is geared towards an upscale clientele, according to Mashable.

The metal trash bin is actually a "design homage" to New York's "ash cans" from the early 1900s, which were heated using coal and wood to dispose of garbage. Back then, the ash cans were heavy and hard to clean and maintain. They were eventually replaced with resin garbage containers, according to DNA Info.
