Legendary rocker David Bowie has finally topped the charts with his final album "Blackstar."

The album, which was released just two days before he died, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it his first album to ever reach the top spot.

"Blackstar" sold 174,000 copies in the U.S. by the end of its first week, which was enough to knock Adele's "25" to No. 1 after seven straight weeks at No. 1, according to Billboard. Bowie, who was 69 years old when he passed after an 18-month battle with cancer, has had numerous Top 10 albums throughout the years, but he had never topped the charts. The closest he ever came was No. 2 on the chart for his last album "The Next Day" in 2013.

When the album was first released on Bowie's 69th birthday, it only sold a few thousand copies during the first weekend, The New York Times reported. After news of his unexpected death broke early on Jan. 11, fans did what they had to do to get their hands on a copy, and 64,000 albums were sold that day alone. Bowie had five highly influential and successful decades in the music industry and released 27 studio albums during that time.
