In order to help people understand what it's like to read with difficulty, be it from dyslexia, lack of education or learning an unfamiliar language, graphic designer Sam Barclay has created a new Kickstarter project in the form of a book that highlights the struggles of those with reading difficulties.

With 956 backers so far, the campaign's goal is to raise money to help publish the design-led book, which includes "typographic theories that are sure to give you a completely different outlook on reading."

Currently Barclay is working with Boss Print to produce a number of prototypes of his project, though he writes that he still needs money for licensing, marketing, postage & packaging, contingency and printed proofs, among other fees.

Barclay argues that his book can be used as a tool to help businesses, schools and the everyday person understand the struggles of those who read with difficulty.

"As stated in the Equality Act 2010, disability discrimination legislation prohibits discrimination against disabled people in employment and in the provision of goods and services," he writes. "Helping staff to truly understand what it might feel like for a colleague or customer to struggle with reading will greatly improve your business."

With 18 more days to go, Barclay's Kickstarter campaign has raised a whopping £36,546 so far ahead of its original £14,500 pledged goal. Backers can receive everything from signed copies of the book and personal, hand-written messages from Barclay himself to having their name published in the book and even a Q&A discussion of the project in their hometown.
