Conference play is in full swing right now for college basketball and because of that the recruiting news has slowed down significantly. Most of the recruits in the 2016 class have already made their college choices by now anyway but there are still a few elite prospects still left on the board. Five-star guard Kobi Simmons is one of the players that still has yet to decide where he will play his college basketball but a decision is expected to be made on Saturday, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com.

On Tuesday evening Simmons narrowed down his list to just three schools via Twitter and they are Ohio State, Kentucky and Arizona. Simmons is a native of Alpharetta, Georgia so none of his final three schools really have the advantage of being a hometown favorite but as of right now it looks like Ohio State might be the best bet to receive a commitment from Simmons, according to 247 Sports.

Simmons has only taken official visits to Ohio State and Kentucky of the final three which would make it seem like Arizona is a real longshot. All along it seemed like Kentucky was the school most likely to get a commitment from Simmons but Ohio State went all out during his official there and seemed to make up a ton of ground. Since his official visits Kentucky has stacked up their 2016 class by adding Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox at the guard positions which likely plays a part in Simmons reportedly leaning towards the Buckeyes.

As of right now Thad Matta and the Buckeyes only have commitments from two recruits in the 2016 class and they are both centers so Simmons would be a huge get for them. If Simmons were to commit to Ohio State he would likely be able to start right away and be the star of the team which is something elite prospects like to know.

Simmons is a 6-foot-6 combo guard that is ranked as the 18th best player in the 2016 class and the fourth best point guard, according to ESPN. Simmons has great size for his position and is considered an elite scorer but does have trouble with staying focused all the time. The best thing about Simmons though, might be his versatility as he can play both on and off the ball and has the athleticism that can make him a plus defender in the future. Simmons is one of the few dominoes left to fall in the 2016 recruiting class and he is a big one as he can make Kentucky into one of the best classes ever or he can take Arizona or Ohio State from uninspiring classes to very good classes. We will find out on Saturday.
