T-Mobile users can now send MMS to friends and family members who use Google Voice on their smartphones.

Google has been rolling out a series of updates for its mobile apps in the last couple of days. This time, the web giant has found a way around for T-Mobile users to send MMS to their contacts, provided they use Google Voice service.

Google introduced its popular free internet connected calling application in 2009. The service received incredible response from several million users and Google reserved over a million phone numbers for it. Google has been planning to improve its service by adding new features including MMS support. Google has found a way with which T-Mobile users can send MMS to Google Voice customers.

T-Mobile is now the second wireless carrier in the U.S. to enable MMS support after Sprint. If a T-Mobile customer sends a MMS to a Google Voice number, the photo, instead of appearing on Google Voice will be displayed on Gmail. Users can opt to get SMS notifications to tell you when a MMS arrives. It may not be the best solution but it is a working one.

"T-Mobile has allowed MMS messages from their users to be sent to Google Voice users. Similar to MMS messages from Sprint users, these messages will appear in Gmail, and you can be notified of the message via SMS," Google's Alex Wiesen said in a Google+ post.

While it is not necessary to be a T-Mobile customer to receive MMS, the feature works only as long as the sender is a T-Mobile customer.

Wiesen adds that Google is working with other carriers to include MMS support in addition to bringing MMS to Hangouts.
