FOX has unveiled the first minute of footage from "The X-Files" revival. For those uninitiated with the original, this new clip provides a crash course in the basics of what happened over the previous nine seasons. Check it out below.

"The X-Files" will return with six new episodes starting with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24, right after the NFL's NFC Championship Game. The series will continue with its normal premiere Monday, Jan. 25.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are both returning to their beloved roles as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Cully. The series will include a blend of one-off investigations and a few storylines that further explore many of the questions raised in the original series. The premiere episode will find Mulder and Scully investigating a potential alien abduction. New episodes will feature guest stars such as Joel McHale ("Community," Robbie Amell ("The Flash"), Lauren Amrbose ("Six Feet Under"), Annabeth Gish ("The Bridge"), Annet Mahendru ("The Americans"), Rhys Darby ("Flight of the Conchords"), Kumail Nanjiani ("Silicon Valley") and more.

"The X-Files" first premiered in September 1993. The series spanned nine seasons and won 16 Emmy Awards.
