A sequel to "Creed" has now been scheduled for Nov. 2017, Variety reports.

If MGM can maintain that schedule, the sequel starring Michael B. Jordan will arrive almost exactly two years after the first installment. The successful franchise continuation has earned $105 million at the domestic box office and even won Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe for best supporting actor last night.

"That's my goal," MGM CEO Gary Barber told Variety Sunday night at the Golden Globes of his scheduling plans, warning that the date isn't 100 percent confirmed.

If that date is maintained, it might allow director Ryan Coogler - who is likely to helm Marvel's "Black Panther" - to return for the second installment.

Stallone has hinted that it's possible Coogler may only be able to sign on as an executive producer for the "Creed" sequel due to his rising profile. "I know Ryan is going to be gone for a couple years," Stallone told Variety. "There's a diminishing time acceptance of a sequel."

Stallone also discussed potential plot points for the follow up film, flashing back to the past with Carl Weathers returning as the late Apollo Creed.

"Ryan has some ideas of going forward and backward and actually seeing Rocky and Apollo together," Stallone revealed. "Think of 'The Godfather 2.' That's what he was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious."
