A woman from New Jersey was shocked to find a deer wandering around her garden investigating her pear tree, the animal acting completely normal save for the arrow shot cleanly through its muzzle, FOX News reports.

Susan Darrah of Boonton, N.J., 64, quickly shot several photos and contacted animal control to report the wounded deer that, despite its  injury, did not appear to be bleeding.

"Want to know what sucks? THIS!" Darrah wrote on her Facebook page along with the photos of the deer. "Tried to capture him to no avail... he can eat, run and there's no blood, less chance of infection. I just feel so bad for him."

Darrah's backyard is adjacent to the Split Rock Reservoir, where she believes the animal was shot by a hunter during the recently opened bow-hunting season, though the deer was likely not kept alive intentionally.

"I know a lot of hunters and I know that was nothing done intentionally," Darrah told The Smoking Gun. "I'm sure if any hunter saw him, they would have been kind of enough to put him down."

Darrah explained that the deer was a frequent visitor to her garden, having returned several times on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. In order to try and catch the deer, Darrah has left corn and pears as treats for the wounded animal in hopes that the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife can tranquilize it and bring it in for treatment.
