Amazon has taken its new Kindle Fire HDX to a completely new level with the best display in the market, beating Apple iPad Air and Google Nexus in a display test conducted by Display Mate.

In the crowded market of mobiles any small differentiation counts and display is one of them. The growth in technology is helping companies keep a step ahead of the competition. Some companies like Samsung have introduced the curved display smartphones, marking the beginning of a new era. It is a known fact that Apple displays in the iPad models bring the best user-experience. But now the tech giant has some tough competition. Lab tests by DisplayMate, a world leader in video diagnostics,  have proved that Amazon Kindle Fire HDX offers better display than iPad Air and Google Nexus 10.

Apple iPad Air is the company's latest tablet with a retina display. It measures 9.7-inch diagonally and uses LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology. On the other hand, Amazon uses high-quality Low-Temperature Poly-Silicon (LTPS) LCD in the HDX, similar to what is seen on iPhone devices. But the LTPS technology is adapted on a larger scale, 8.9-inches in HDX, compared to the iPhones, making it the largest LTPS panel used in a mobile device. The Google Nexus 10 has the maximum screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, but it scored less in the lab tests.

The Apple iPad Air and Amazon Kindle Fire HDX did exceptionally well in all the tests, but the HDX display scored slightly better than the iPad, according to DisplayMate results. The display test results were based on various categories including brightness and contrast, color and intensity, viewing angles, power efficiency and more. These tests were carried out by Raymond Soneira, President of DisplayMate Technologies Corporation.

"Most impressive of all is the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, which has leapfrogged into the best performing Tablet display that we have ever tested, significantly out-performing the iPad Air in Brightness, Screen Reflectance, and high ambient light contrast, plus a first place finish in the very challenging category of Absolute Color Accuracy," DisplayMate concluded.
