The Phoenix Suns came into this season with fairly lofty expectations as they have a very talented roster but so fair it has been a disaster. The Suns currently have a record of 12-22 but the problems don't stop there. Recently Jeff Hornacek's top two assistants were fired against his will and he too is now on the hot seat as the team has gone into a freefall. Now the Suns will be without their best player Eric Bledsoe for the remainder of the season as he is set to undergo surgery on his torn meniscus so things don't seem like they will be getting any better.

When the Suns traded for Brandon Knight last year many people thought they might have gotten a steal as Knight and Bledsoe might form one of the best backcourts in the league. Bledsoe was having a great season before his injury and Knight has played well too but apparently their chemistry isn't all that great. Zach Lowe of ESPN reports that Knight and Bledsoe playing together has caused awkward tension in the locker room.

The idea of playing Bledsoe and Knight together is to have two guys that can go off at anytime but that hasn't been the way it has worked out and Hornacek has even brought Knight off the bench one game to split the two of them up. Both players like to play with the ball in their hands and despite the fact that many people think Knight is better suited as a shooting guard they both consider themselves point guards.

Many people close to the Suns feel like the two guards have been sort of taking turns on offense this year which has led to no continuity. Bledsoe and Knight have still been the Suns best players this season but their lack of chemistry could be a reason why this season has gone so poorly. It certainly isn't the only reason though, as Markieff Morris has been awful and Tyson Chandler has not quite lived up to what they thought when they signed him.

Bledsoe is done for the year now so Knight should be happy as he will have the ball in his hands more but it will be interesting to see what will happen after this season. Bledsoe is under contract through 2019 and Knight is under contract through 2020 so unless a trade is worked out it seems like they will have to figure out how to play together. Whoever is coaching the team next year, whether it's Hornacek or someone else, will have this at the top of their list of things to figure out.
