A blue whale that washed ashore in Chile received help by beachgoers and fishermen, the Navy and the police to get the giant mammal back to the ocean, according to the Telegraph. Measuring more than 20 meters in length (more than 65 feet), the whale had stranded himself upon El Coronado beach in the port city of Iquique, Chile, which is approximately 1150 miles north of Santiago.

The huge team of rescuers and entire three hour rescue was coordinated by the Navy, according to FOX News, which was able to pull the whale back into deep water with a net they secured under the whale. Using two tug boats, they were then able to pulls the whale back to the ocean, releasing him after they were five miles off shore, the navy said in a statement.
