"The Girl on the Train" is the bestselling psychological mystery thriller written by Paula Hawkins and has been compared to another hit book adaptation, "Gone Girl." A first look at the film starring Emily Blunt as divorcee and complete mess Rachel Watson was released by Entertainment Weekly and shows exactly what the title of the film promises, a girl on a train.

"You can't avoid the puns with this movie - she's a train wreck," director Tate Taylor of "The Help" said about the main character.

Rachel is an emotional damaged unemployed alcoholic who rides the train everyday even though she was fired. She develops an obsession with a young couple who she calls Jason and Jess, played by Luke Evans and Hayley Bennett in the film. Rachel daydreams about an elaborate fantasy life for the couple before she witnesses something shocking and the woman disappears. Rachel then inserts herself into the investigation and becomes intertwined with the young woman's disappearance as well as the lives of everyone involved, according to Amazon.

"Rachel does things that we all think, and we all wish we could do," says Taylor.

"The Girl on the Train" was published in January and has already sold over 3 million copies making it an instant hit, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux, and Edgar Ramirez. "The Girl on the Train" arrives in theaters Oct. 7.
