Disney has designed a new robot capable of climbing walls smoothly, the company announced on Tuesday. The VertiGo, as the machine has been named, has two "tiltable" propellers and four wheels, one pair that is "steerable," the company released in a press statement

The propellers on top of the machine allow it to climb up and down walls, according to Popular Mechanics. The propellers pivot allowing the machine to stay on the wall despite surface structure or changes. The wall surface does not need to be smooth for the VertiGo to transition or climb, Gizmodo reports.

The machine has a carbon fiber baseplate and its wheels and suspension system were made of 3-D printed parts, according to PC Mag

VertiGo was a collaborative project between Disney Research Zurich and ETH University.

Disney has not yet said when VertiGo will become a real-life product available for purchase, according to Engadget
