Josh Elliott is leaving his gig at NBC Sports after less than two years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

NBC nabbed Elliott in spring 2014 from ABC, where he served as a co-anchor on "Good Morning America." He was brought over to the ABC morning news show from sister network ESPN in 2011.

"I'm grateful for the chance to work with the remarkable team at NBC Sports, and appreciate their support as I look forward to what's next," Elliot said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

NBC added in their own statement, "Josh and NBC Sports mutually decided to part ways, and we wish him the best of luck in the future."

Elliott has not stated publicly his next career move. He may move to Fox Sports to work again with former ESPN executive Jamie Horowitz, who now runs programming for Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Elliot reportedly chose to leave "GMA" because of his desire to return to sports where his career began.
