Guus Hiddink was named interim manager of Chelsea F.C. Saturday. The club announced the move via Twitter after Manager Jose Mourinho was let go earlier in the week.

The firing of Mourinho comes as Chelsea find themselves sitting in 15th place, only four points above the Premier League relegation zone as of Saturday.

The Dutch-born Hiddink will take over Chelsea for the second time. Hiddink's last stint came in 2009 when he led Chelsea to an FA cup title, losing only once over the final 29 games of the season.

"I am excited to return to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment," Hiddink said. "However, I am sure we can all turn this season around."

Hiddink watched Chelsea defeat Sunderland 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday alongside the club's Russian Owner Roman Abramovich, according to the Daily Mail.

Abramovich, addressed Chelsea's first team on Friday and told the club that he didn't want to fire Mourinho, but he had no choice with the team losing nine matches through their first 16, The Telegraph reported.

Also in attendance on Saturday was former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, who has been approached by Abramovich about a coaching position with his former club. Abramovich could be planning to bring Drogba in to join the coaching staff under Hiddink or another coach next summer. Drogba's current club, the Montreal Impact, denied that there has been any contact in regards to a coaching position with Chelsea.

Since leaving the blues, Hiddink has spent time with the Turkish national team, Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, and his most recent position as manager of the Dutch national team before he was replaced in favor of current Manchester United manager Luis van Gaal.

Hiddink will have some time to prepare before the Blues' next match against Watford at Stamford Bridge on Dec. 26.
