A homeowner decided to trick a thief with a box full of dog poop he left on his porch after becoming fed up with the string of recent reports of local package theft in Las Vegas. Devising the brilliant plan to teach the thief a lesson, homeowner Eric Burdo filled a box with dog poop, stuck a shipping label on it and placed it on his porch on Sunday, according to the Examiner. 

It took until Thursday, but sure enough the video camera placed on the porch caught a young thief sprinting to the porch, grabbing the boxed-up poop and swiftly making his escape at about 1:30 p.m.

What isn't caught on camera is the thief's face when he opens his prized stolen box to see what he was lucky enough to steal. That is Burdo's regret, as he would love to see the thief's shocked face.

"I was kind of excited and I just kept replaying it," said Burdo, according to KJRH. "I just kind of wanted to give them back something." One day I kind of just thought about cleaning up the poop and putting it in a box and that's what I did."

"Hopefully they don't do it again and they learn their lesson," added Burdo, according to United Press International.
