President Thomas J. Whitmore foresaw it in his dreams. David Levinson spent the last 20 years trying to prepare for it. But nothing can stop the aliens from returning in "Independence Day: Resurgence."

Fox has released the first trailer for the "Independence Day" sequel, which features familiar faces Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum and Judd Hirsch and new stars, Liam Hemsworth and Jessie T. Usher. Roland Emmerich also returned to direct.

Pullman's famous speech from the 1996 film plays over much of the trailer as Earth once again comes under attack from the extra terrestrial invaders. The human versus alien fight also heads beyond Earth's atmosphere to the moon's surface where things don't look much better.

"That is definitely bigger than the last one," Goldblum's Levinson says in his space suit.

Will Smith, who starred in the first movie, opted out of the sequel, but Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner will reprise their roles alongside newcomers Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joey King, Angelababy and William Fichtner.
