The SMU Mustangs have gotten off to a tremendous start to their 2015-16 season after a disappointing ending to their 2014-15 campaign. SMU made the NCAA tournament a year ago as a six seed but were upset in the first round by UCLA. This season the Mustangs are not eligible for the postseason but they are still playing for pride as they have a few seniors who they want to send out on a good note. Markus Kennedy is one of those seniors and he is reportedly undergoing x-rays on his ankle, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

SMU is ineligible for the postseason this year after the NCAA ruled that they broke rules involving players' academics and head coach Larry Brown was suspended for the first nine games of the season but despite that the Mustangs are still 7-0 after pulling off their best win of the season on Tuesday night against Michigan. While the 24 point win was great for SMU the news wasn't all good as Kennedy was only able to play one minute before leaving with a left ankle injury.

Kennedy started the game for SMU and took one shot before having to leave after just one minute. Kennedy is in his third year at SMU after transferring from Villanova after his freshman season and he has been very good for the Mustangs since getting there. Kennedy has career averages of 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per 40 minutes in his two plus seasons at SMU and has been a huge key to their success.

With the Mustangs having no chance at playing in any postseason tournament the injury wouldn't seem to be that big of a deal but Kennedy is also playing to try and impress NBA scouts. As of right now Kennedy isn't listed on any draft boards for the 2016 NBA Draft, according to Draftexpress, but he is someone that might get a shot in training camp with a team. Kennedy is 6 foot-9 and has been productive in his college career so he might be an attractive option for teams to bring into training camp but this injury may somewhat hurt those chances. As of right now it is unknown the extent of the injury but it seems like SMU is a bit considered based on the fact that they are sending him for X-Rays.
