The Houston Rockets are one of a few underachieving teams so far this season so naturally there have been a lot of trade rumors involving them. Most recently there was a rumor that they were interested in trading with the Phoenix Suns for Markieff Morris and there was speculation as to who they might have to give up to get him. One name that was brought up a lot was Terrence Jones but it is being reported now that Jones is not going to be traded, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN.

The Rockets had a very rough start to the season that included them firing head coach Kevin McHale but they have been playing better lately as they have won five of their last six games to bring their record to 10-11. Despite the improved play the Rockets still feel they have improvements to make to their roster so they are looking on the trade market to see who is available. Many of the teams they have been in contact with reportedly want Jones back in any type of deal but as of right now the Rockets are not inclined to trade him.

There was talk about a week ago that the Rockets might also try to trade Ty Lawson but that too has been shot down so as of right now it is unclear what they might be willing to move to improve their roster. It is possible that they are happy with the improvement the current team has made recently but with the Golden State Warriors being head and shoulders above everyone else you would think Houston would continue to look at potential trades.

The fact that the Rockets aren't willing to trade Jones right now though is probably a good idea as he has been one of their best players this season and, despite the fact that he has had injury issues, is a very good power forward. Jones has played in 16 games this season (nine starts) and he is averaging 11.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in those games. Jones is also just 23 years old and although he is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason he is too good of a player for the Rockets to trade, especially if they're trying to improve the team for this year.
