Android users are in for a treat. Adobe Lightroom is now free for use on Android smartphones, according to The Verge. This comes after news broke about the release of the iOS version in October in which the app was free for use without the need for a Creative Cloud subscription.

The new updated version for Android devices will do away with the Creative Cloud requirement, allowing users to edit and manage photos without a subscription, according to Engadget.

Adobe Lightroom is an app that allows for photo editing, organizing, enhancing and sharing, according to Tech Times.

"We're really excited to continue our focus on Android and pleased that Lightroom for mobile was recently listed by Google as one of the top apps of 2015," Adobe said in an announcement, according to Tech Times.

But don't get too excited yet. If you want to sync photos to your laptop, you'll still need a Creative Cloud subscription, according to Engadget.

And while the newly free app gives users access to a range of features, the full spectrum of capabilities is only available through the desktop app that still requires a subscription to Creative Cloud, according to The Verge.
