A Condor Airlines Airbus A321, flight number DE490, was diverted from its intended Berlin-Hurghada, Egypt, path to make an emergency landing in Hungary due to a bomb threat called in to officials. Hurghada is a resort-lined beach vacation spot on the Red Sea coast of Egypt. No further details about the threat have been divulged.

The threatened plane was escorted into Hungarian airspace by two Hungarian Air Force fighter jets, said the Defense Ministry. It landed safely at the Budapest airport, reported The Associated Press.

Firetrucks and ambulances met the aircraft on the runway, and police searched extensively for any dangerous materials onboard. No explosives were found, according to police spokeswoman Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs, reported ABC.

A Condor spokesman said that the situation was under control and protocol was being followed. "The airplane landed safely at 11:42 am local time in Budapest. Security is always the highest priority in aviation. The Airbus A321 will be inspected in Budapest according to administrative guidelines by Condor and the authorities. The 133 passengers and 7 crew members are all well and are looked after on site," reported The Mirror.

Condor sent another plane to Budapest to pick up the passengers and crew to take them to the intended destination of Hurghada.
