Miami Beach police officers shot and killed an armed bank robbery suspect during a confrontation on Saturday, and bystanders captured the grisly incident on video, according to CNN.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old David W. Winesett, had held up a Bank of America branch and had managed to equip himself with a straight-edge razor. The standoff took place at approximately 10.30 a.m. after the police received reports of a man passing a note to a bank employee that said he was armed with a bomb and demanded money.

When Miami Beach police officers arrived at the scene, the suspect rushed into a nearby barbershop and armed himself with a razor, according to Det. Kathleen Prieto, according to The Miami Herald.

The video, taken from across the street and uploaded to Instagram by bystander Marcellus Johnson, shows a shirtless Winesett in blue jeans, wielding a straight-edge razor in his right hand on Alton Road as he is confronted by several police officers with their weapons aimed at him.

The police can be heard asking Winesett to drop his weapon before he places his hand on the hood of a police cruiser. Seconds later, police shoot him with a taser, followed immediately by two shots from an assault rifle as Winesett falls on his back, clutching his chest.

The Miami-Dade County Police Department is investigating the shooting, whereas the F.B.I is looking into the bank robbery in conjunction with the Miami Beach Police Department, said Prieto, the New York Times reported.

Winesett was serving a 151-month federal prison sentence for bank robberies and had fled from a Miami halfway house where he was being held as a prisoner.

"It's a horrible, isolated incident," said Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine. "As we learn more about this incident from Miami-Dade police, from the state attorney's office, we will make sure to keep everyone informed."
