Simply put, you can't consider yourself a qualified TV fan if you're not watching FX's "Fargo." Finishing up a stellar sophomore season that would make "True Detective" jealous, "Fargo" has firmly cemented itself as one of the best shows on television and, unsurprisingly, earned a third season order. Though the show is an anthology, season two features younger versions of some interesting characters we met during the show's initial run. This has caused some fans to wonder if showrunner Noah Hawley will do something similar next year.

Hawley recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about his third go-around and revealed some interesting tidbits. He said that season three will take place a "couple years after season one," which was set in 2006. He also teased the potential return of some fan favorites as well as whether or not viewers can expect some Easter eggs to the current season.

"Potentially...There are going to be connections, the way the first year was connected to the movie and the second year was connected to the first, but I think part of the fun is figuring that stuff out and I wouldn't want to take that away from anybody," Hawley said. "There will be definitely things that connect to something in our story."

This season of "Fargo" has centered on a young Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson) as he investigates the Sioux Falls massacre that his older self (Keith Carradine) spoke about in season one. We also have gotten to see a young Molly this year, who was played by Allison Tolman in season one as well as a few other sly nods that connect both stories.

Could we see a return of Bob Odenkirk's Chief Bill Oswalt or Colin Hanks' Gus Grimly in season three? It sounds like those options aren't being ruled out and fans would certainly enjoy checking in on these familiar characters. However, given the anthology format, Hawley likely won't return so deep to that same well. Fans should possibly expect a few more subtle nods to seasons past instead.

"Fargo" airs on Monday nights at 10 p.m. on FX.
