Rumors continue to surround Apple's upcoming iPhone 7, the latest round claiming that the tech giant is testing five different models with features that suggest a major shift for the gadget's design.

Among the changes expected for the latest addition to the iPhone family is a replacement for Apple's well-known Lightning connector, which could be a reversible USB Type-C port, according to Highsnobiety. While this would make the iPhone 7 the first to use such a feature, Apple's new MacBook already includes the Type-C port.

Another way Apple is rumored to be improving the iPhone is by adding a touch screen that combines gesture-based commands and 3D touch in order to provide more functionality.

Wireless charging is also expected to make it also expected to finally make its way to the new iPhone, as is fingerprint recognition technology on the main screen, The Week noted. The later feature may be more possible with Apple having previously registered patents related to this technology.

The gadget may also have dual rear cameras to provide optical zoom as a replacement for digital zoom. This feature might be the most realistic for the iPhone 7, as Apple was rumored to include it in earlier iPhone models.

Apple fans will have to wait until the iPhone 7 actually comes out to find out if it will have the improvements it is expected to have.
