Christmas decorations don't require a permanent fix when you're only going to hang these by doors, windows, mantels and walls for the next three or four weeks. As much as possible, you should completely avoid causing any damage to your property because you might regret those small holes and marks after the holidays. Avoid decorating fails with these easy tricks for hanging Christmas ornaments. If you're so inclined, you could adapt the same tricks all year round:

1) Hang garlands on curtain rods.

You can buy Christmas garlands from Wayfair or Home Depot to put on the window. Just wrap or drape this on the rod to decorate the windows for the holidays. No need for pins, glues or ties.

2) Use painter's tape.

Painter's tape holds up really well, so you won't have to worry about ornaments falling on the floor. It also doesn't peel paint or leave marks when you have to take decorations down after the holidays. If you need pin ribbons on the wall or decorate corners and mantles with sash, use painter's tape instead.

3) Make the hooks part of the decoration.

Sometimes, you don't really need to hide it if the hooks are pretty enough to become part of the decoration. Choose the types that come with a metallic finish, as this will work well with Christmas ornaments. When the festivities are over, you could consider leaving the hooks where they are since they won't be eyesores.

4) Use the backside of the door.

Hide hooks from the back of the door for any decorations you'd like to hang on the front. Use Command hooks with strips so that nail hammering is no longer required. Then loop a string or ribbon from this hook going through the top side of the door and over to the front. Tie your Christmas wreath with the string or ribbon, and you can put a bow over it so that the door's back doesn't look unpresentable.

A variety of Command hooks will also come in handy for hanging decorations on molding, ledges and walls, and it's easy to set up and remove, according to The Inspired Room.

Here's another way to hang a wreath by the door using the ribbon trick:

5) Raid your husband's tool box for unused gear tie.

Gear ties are mainly used for keeping cords and wires intact, but you can also use this to clip or pull together Christmas ornaments to set up on stairs and banisters. These also come in different colors, which works for festive decorations.
