Earlier today rumors suggested the Minnesota Twins reached an agreement with Korean first baseman Byung-Ho Park. That speculation turned out to be true and Park is on his way to the MLB.

The Twins announced the move on Twitter after the four-year, $12 million contract became official.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports first broke the news of the two sides agreeing to a contract while FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal was the first to provide the terms of the deal.

The 29-year-old Park will make $2.75 million in 2016 and 2017 and then earn $3 million in 2018 and 2019. He also has a $6.5 million team option for the 2020 season.

Over the weekend it was said Park was traveling to Minneapolis to undergo a physical as it was speculated a deal would be completed soon. In early November the Twins won the bidding for Park when his incumbent team, the Nexen Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization, accepted Minnesota's $12.85 million posting fee. After the bid was accepted, the Twins had 30 days to negotiate a contract with Park or else they'd get their posting fee back and he'd return to the Heroes.

Overall, the Twins are investing just under $25 million for four years of Park, which is a new high for a Korean player coming to the MLB. Last offseason the Pittsburgh Pirates invested a total of $16 million for four years of Jung-Ho Kang ($5 million posting fee, $11 million contract).

Minnesota hopes Park's power will translate to the MLB after he blasted 173 home runs and 492 RBI over the past four seasons with the Heroes. His best campaign came in 2015 during which he batted .343/.436/.714 with 129 runs scored, 53 home runs and 146 RBI.
