Anyone in the market to buy their own town? If your answer was yes, you're in luck, and for a mere a $250,000, you can become the owner of a ghost town in South Dakota named Swett.

This isn't the first time the six-acre town was put up for sale. Located southeast of Rapid City, Swett was first placed on the market in June 2014 for $399,000, however, despite generating interest around the world, the three written offers fell through, real estate agent Stacie Montgomery revealed, according to the Rapid City Journal.

"Some of the types of individuals who have been interested in the past included people who wanted to be their own mayor, people who wanted to live off-grid, several production companies thinking about reality shows, hunters who wanted to create a hunting lodge, or somebody who wants to own a bar," she said.

The ghost town, as the name implies, is completely abandoned and supposedly possibly haunted. It comes with a home, a garage/shop and a bar called the Swett Tavern, which has a stage and party room, reported CNBC. It even had it its own post office until it closed in 1945.

Montgomery notes that there is renewed interest in the town, now that the price has gone down and hopes the new listing will generate valid prospects, and ultimately a sale.

Swett isn't the only town in the area that has been put up for sale recently, reported the Associated Press. A Phillipines-based church, Iglesia ni Cristo, paid $700K to own 46 acres of land in Scenic, located 45 miles southeast of Rapid City, in 2011.

Such occurrences aren't exclusive to the area either. A ghost town in Connecticut was auctioned off in Oct. 2014 for $1.9 million, but had to be placed on the market again after the buyer mysteriously disappeared.
