A Maine man dressed as Batman villain The Joker was arrested on drunk driving charges early Sunday, after he crashed his car while traveling home from a Halloween party.

64-year-old Dennis Lalime told Pittsfield police that he lost control of his 2002 Buick Regal off Crawford Road around 2 a.m., according to Sgt. Timothy Roussin, who spoke with the Morning Sentinel.

Lalime managed to make it out of the accident unscathed, but his car wasn't so lucky - after hitting multiple trees and rocks, the Regal landed in a ditch, the Associated Press reported.

In his booking photo, Lalime is seen wearing face paint, blackened eyebrows, and green hair to mimic the look of comic book villain The Joker, Batman's archnemesis.

Police were first alerted of the crash after a citizen living in the area heard a loud banging sound, and called authorities. Pittsfield Police officer Greg Sides performed the arrest, and informed the Sentinel that Lalime was cooperative throughout the entire incident.

Lalime told police that he was driving back from a Halloween party in Old Town, located about 50 miles from the site of the crash.

According to the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, the number of alcohol-related auto accidents in the state has dipped in the past few years. In 2006, when Maine saw the highest number of deaths driving under the influence, about 1,800 fatalities were reported. In 2011, the number dropped to 1,168.
