Not only does she have the No. 1 album in the country, but Miley Cyrus also has a very special fan in the form of her idol, Britney Spears. In a recent radio interview Capital FM, the pop legend said that she thinks Cyrus is "brilliant right now," ABC News reports.
Spears, who is featured on one of Cyrus's new tracks off of her new album "Bangerz," added that she and Cyrus have family friends in common.
"My mom and her mom know each other," Spears said. "She is from the South. She's a girl's girl and she gets the whole Southern thing. Also my manager is her manager, and it's just really worked out."
Both stars have suffered intense media scrutiny throughout their careers, though arguably no one has had it much worse than Britney Spears. In 2007, the star became a victim of intense paparazzi and attention and mockery in the midst of her highly public meltdown, often bombarded by hundreds of photographers at once while out in public or trying to drive her car.
Cyrus, on the other hand, made her own hype by re-vamping her squeaky clean "Hanna Montana" image over the years, eventually settling on being a hip-hop-obsessed pop vixen who delights in shocking America with her wacky style and sexualized performances. In her MTV documentary, "The Movement," Cyrus revealed that it's been her plan all along to get the press talking, having delighted in the fact that no one could stop talking about her 2013 VMAs performance with Robin Thicke for weeks, even though massive pop stars like Lady GaGa and Katy Perry had performed that same night in equally risque outfits.
That night, Cyrus ditched a party in NYC in favor of hitting the studio with her friend Kanye West to work on a remix of "Black Skinhead" for an upcoming EP. West has praised Cyrus's bold artistry, and Cyrus has confirmed that the two are "homies."
As for Britney Spears, Cyrus was overwhelmed to be able to record a duet with her for "SMS (Bangerz").
"The way that I am about Britney, that's the way a lot of people are about me," Cyrus said in her documentary. "She was my first record. I was a lot of people's first album. First idol. I'll be a diehard fan for Britney, always."
And as for what Spears finds so appealing about Miley Cyrus, she said it boils down to her personality.
"She has so much energy and she's on fire," Spears said of the former Disney star. "For her to even say anything about me is just really cool."
As for her own new album, Britney Spears's "Britney Jean" is set for release on Dec. 3.
