Two Israelis were stabbed to death by a Palestinian man Thursday at an office complex in Tel Aviv.

The attack took place in the Panorama building on Ben Tzvi Street in southern Tel Aviv on Thursday afternoon.

The 36-year-old Palestinian attacker, identified as Raid Halil bin Mahmoue by the media, was later arrested with light injuries, according to Breaking Israel News.

"What we confirm until now is that two Israelis have been murdered in that terrorist attack. The suspect was captured and is being questioned at the moment," said police spokesman Micky Rozenfeld, according to euronews.

"We were praying the Mincha [afternoon] services. In the middle of the prayers, suddenly we saw a man fall down wounded at the entrance to the synagogue and behind him a man with a knife who was trying to get inside. Someone shouted 'there's a terrorist!'" an eyewitness said, according to The Times of Israel.

Gaza-based Hamas issued a statement praising the stabbing attack, calling it an act of bravery. "We welcome the heroic operation in Tel Aviv that killed two people. We call on the Palestinians to continue such activities," the group said.

An American tourist, an Israeli and a Palestinian were killed in Gush Etzion, West Bank in a separate terror attack Thursday afternoon, just a few hours after the Tel Aviv stabbings, Haaretz reported.

At least 17 Israelis were killed in recent stabbing and shooting attacks by Palestinians in the past seven weeks.
